As a general symbol of KYOTO STEAM—International Arts × Science Festival, a pavilion newly designed by the Sou Fujimoto is exhibited at ROHM Square, an outdoor space at ROHM Theatre Kyoto.

The opportunity for people to gather and spend time together has taken on different meaning and value now in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. In ancient Japan, it is said that the Japanese word for universe was read in a way that literally means “under the Heavens.” The world spreads out under a large roof. This pavilion creates a space where people can gather loosely, even for a short period of time, and experience the energies and fluctuations that exists between the natural and the manmade, between nature and humankind.
