Villa Blumenstein . Solothurn
Christ & Gantenbein . Richter Tobler Architekten
A house with nine apartments is to be built in the former baroque garden of Blumenstein Castle in Solothurn. The new house – whose architecture is reminiscent of orangeries, garden architecture or bosket – and the historical garden will form a single unit.
The most important elements of the historical garden, such as the terracing by natural stone walls, the stairs and the two symmetrically arranged garden pavilions, have been preserved and are listed as historical monuments. With its large terraces, the open access, the striking barrel roofs and the dark green painted and partially overgrown corrugated iron facade, the new house creates a very direct relationship to the garden.
