Herzog & de Meuron . + baunetz
Îlot A3 in Lyon Confluence officially inaugurated.
In 2009, together with Michel Desvigne Paysagiste (MDP), Herzog & de Meuron developed the master plan for the 2nd phase of the redevelopment of Lyon Confluence. The urban plan (Plan Local d’Urbanisme, PLU) was subsequently developed by Herzog & de Meuron, Michel Desvigne and the SPL (Société Publique Locale), an urban development agency, and went into effect in 2012.
Between 2012 and 2018, nine buildings were planned and built under the guidance of Herzog & de Meuron in the role of “Chef d’Îlot” and Michel Desvigne as landscape architect for the pilot project. The architects are: Tatiana Bilbao (Mexico City), Christian Kerez (Zurich), Manuel Herz (Basel), and AFAA (Lyon). Herzog & de Meuron contributed with their own building, the first high-rise in Lyon Confluence 2.
The pilot project, Îlot A3, is fundamental for the future development of Lyon Confluence 2, where 30 new buildings are to be built in future Îlots until 2023.
