The Wood’Up Tower, one of the largest wooden towers in the world, will emerge in 2021 in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.

Located on the banks of the River Seine, in the heart of the new Massena-Bruneseau district, the Wood’Up tower, 50 meters high, will rise on 17 floors and offer 105 apartments and a convivial space on the 8th floor.
To design a wooden building means above all to study a structural framework that would correspond to its functions. Thus, in the case of B1A3 block, the structural frame was defined in relation to the size of the housing units. The strategy was to compose the screening of the building with a dimension of 3.90 m so that it can easily adapt to any type of housing.
The particularity of the site lies in the management of the difference in elevation that exists (about 7.00 m) between the Quai d’Ivry and the ground floor accessible on the Boulevard du General Jean Simon. All the levels between the R + 2 and the R + 14 are based on the same principle of double level, each of these 6 double levels comprises 16 dwellings. The first level, on the other hand, consists of the double height of the ground floor and develops 9 units in simplex. This strategy has enabled us to propose double-height balconies, one level in two. By providing each duplex apartment with a double height loggia, an added value is offered to the outdoor spaces. As in a single-family house, the rooms on the first floor open below their own loggia, thus preserving a certain degree of privacy.
