On March 23, Lisbon’s city hall approved the plans to build an auditorium for the Santa Casa da Miserocórdia de Lisboa (SCML) as designed by the Portuguese architect Eduardo Souto de Moura. The 2013 project is part of the refurbishment of the San Roque complex, headquarters of the SCML, the institution that administers Portugal’s national lottery. Located at the north end of the grounds, the new building can take in an audience of 200. The construction of white concrete and limestone is elevated to form a mirador from which to view São Jorge Castle through a huge frame.
