fala atelier (filipe magalhães + ana luisa soares)
The competition sought a new identity for the “Alvenaria” neighbourhood in Lisbon. After many years of indifference, a single intervention should be able to resolve the whole site while bringing it back to the present.
The proposal did not intend to encompass all the volumes in a static solution. A module was defined, a cube of 2.55m, and the variations and multiplications allowed the development of the various divisions of each dwelling.
Setting ground rules for the organisation of the interiors, several possible typologies were proposed. Each room would directly respond to the wishes of the residents and the dynamic mutant capacity would transform the neighbourhood into a moving platform. Balconies over the street and small cultivation spaces would give colour to the landscape.
The materialisation of the project was based on a prefabricated metal structure. The white of the exterior would be the backdrop for community activities. Inside, each resident would define his own micro-universe.
