A revisit of the headquarters for the Christoph Merian Stiftung, which was recognized by the Prixlignum earlier this fall for its innovative and future-oriented use of wood.
Tucked in the historic center of Basel, the office building is designed as a sustainable timber structure that offers open, flexible working space. Wood is the primary material—six distinct types were selected, each performing specific roles according to their characteristics. All wood was sustainably harvested from local forests and purposely left unfinished to age naturally.
