In this city and for the next eleven years Maru Quiñonero’s sensitivity flirts with collage and explores figurative illustration until she finds its greatest expressive exponent in abstraction. Since 2017 she has studied colour as the main element of her work. She also investigates the use of it in both classical and contemporary artists. She researches both the use that society gives to colour in pop culture and the emotional charge that lives beyond the material sense. As a self-taught artist, Maru runs away from limits when choosing techniques, materials and supports. And in a display of her stoic attitude, she makes virtue out of necessity. Making her lack of academic training in Fine Arts an advantage. Without theoretical prejudices or acquired vices, she feels free and turns her mistake into a chance of her own creation.
