Horacio and Vanesa’s childhood memories are linked to the fertile plain of Granada; the murmur of the irrigation channels, the coolness in the shade of the poplars, the materiality and the light inside the dryers or the distant landscape of Sierra Nevada. In 2017, after acquiring a plot near Albolote, at the foot of the Tajo Colorao and in front of an olive grove, they commissioned us to build a house with the wish that we would try to link that agricultural image of the plain that resided in their memory with their needs. The plot is of narrow proportions, a situation aggravated by the existence of a right-of-way for use of the acequiero on one of the long sides. Estepona surgió en la confluencia entre los pueblos fenicio, romano y árabe, culturas que establecieron una particular relación con el baño. Todas ellas utilizaron el agua más allá de su fin higiénico añadiéndole un valor terapéutico, sanador, en cierto modo mágico y en ocasiones hasta religioso o divino, lo cual devino en la creación de unos lugares especiales que el usuario visitaba con el fin de experimentar sensaciones como la relajación, la tranquilidad, el placer, la intimidad, la armonía, el deseo, la introspección o la paz. La ‘thermae’ romana o el ‘hammam’ árabe eran a la vez edificios públicos, cívicos, políticos y religiosos, ideales para la conversación relajada, el recreo y la relación social. The commission consists of the creation of the commercial premises belonging to a franchise that distributes and commercializes quality Spanish food products worldwide.

The project tries to update the concept of the traditional grocery store, adapting it to new and different situations. A black wood perimeter is proposed, operating as a wrap housing the facilities and large appliances, together with a central piece of furniture, made of pine wood, that colonizes the different spaces in which the franchise can be located.
