‘Tondo’ is a footbridge that connects the House of Representatives’ offices with its recent extensions, the new Forum Building, on the other side of the Leuvensestraat in the centre of Brussels. The bridge was explicitly designed as a spatial element, rather than a technical solution. Named after the tradition of the ‘Tondo’, a circular renaissance painting, it’s shaped like a ring, and tucked between the two facades. There is a generous walk around an enclosed outer space, which also functions as an escape and meeting space. OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen

This is a house for a family with two young children, one of whom uses a wheelchair. For that child, the house functions as a world in itself, easily accessible, complex yet smooth – a continuous panorama. The round floor plan tries to emphasise this relationship between house and garden, between intimate and extrovert spaces. Its centripetal form collects a set of particular rooms that are easily accessible through the central space, which functions as storage. Continue reading OFFICE

OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen . Jaspers-Eyers Architects

Building permit granted for the ambitious office building which aims to give new light to the European Quarter in Brussels. Designed by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen in collaboration with Jaspers-Eyers Architects and developed for Immobel, resolves the complex condition of the corner of a city block by means of three volumes of varying sizes. Each volume has its own architectural expression and character while all being finished in stainless steel. The stepping configuration of these volumes make spaces for roof gardens on two levels. The lower volume offers communal spaces within the building. Its double height floors allows passersby an extended view through the building and into the garden in the back.
