The house sits on a rocky point, as a beacon to the sea, with two fronts towards the Pacific coast. The cross-shaped courtyard has four seven meter-high volumes, with a pitched roof that frame views to the sea.

The angle and separation of the volumes allow for ocean views from any room and, while simple, the scheme achieves a formal integration between rock and beach landscape. A concrete plinth raises the ground above sand level. A wooden structure covered with a palm bone skin forms a two layer panel protecting the interior but allowing views, natural light and cross ventilation. The house does not have any perimeter fencing or doors enclosing the courtyard to the beach. Continue reading BAAQ
