Just two years after its opening, the Gabriel García Márquez Library in Barcelona, inaugurated in May 2022 and designed by SUMA Arquitectura (Elena Orte and Guillermo Sevillano), will close for three weeks to repair the numerous cracks in its windows. The renovation work will also concern the building’s structure as some other improvements.

The construction of the library was managed by BIMSA, and it won an EUmies Award for Emerging Architecture.

The total budget for these works amounts to 478,000 euros, with more than half of that, specifically 243,000 euros, addressing structural issues.
