This house is located on the border of the historical centre, a few meters from the San Jaime Arciprestal Church and the Plaza Mayor. The plot results from the demolition of two old houses, as in almost all neighbouring buildings.
The wishes of future inhabitants to organize the program of needs practically on the ground floor, and the difference between the volume generated by this program and the maximum volume allowed by urban planning regulations, are the main conditions of departure. On the other hand, the orientation and depth of the plot hinder the good sunshine of this inhabited ground floor.
Based on these limitations, a cross-section is proposed that allows the entry of light and a dry-built façade, which, taking into account urban, scale, and privacy considerations, also collaborates in this sunning of the main rooms of the house. In the same way, it will happen with cross vents.
The upper body, quite narrow, is accommodated next to the highest neighbour wall, opening to a patio terrace that is linked to the garden by a ramp, looking towards the church and the bell tower. This ramp will also serve to moderate the opposite neighbour wall, whose old canvases in good condition will be seen in the background.
The terrace reaches the facade plan at one point, as a balcony, to be able to look out and relate to the street in a traditional way.
The proposal introduces the vegetation, both in the small front garden, forming part of the facade, and in the back sloped garden, as a thermoregulatory mechanism, and as a landscape, involving nature and the sky in the project.
A complicity between users and a concept of habitability.

VIVIENDA UNIFAMILIAR ENTRE MEDIANERAS EN VILA REAL, CASTELLÓN. La casa se sitúa en la calle Ecce Homo de Vila Real, límite entre el ensanche tradicional y el centro histórico, a escasos metros de la Iglesia Arciprestal de San Jaime y de la Plaza Mayor. La parcela resulta de la demolición de dos antiguas casas, como en la mayoría de las construcciones vecinas. El deseo de los futuros habitantes por organizar el programa de necesidades prácticamente en planta baja, y la diferencia entre el volumen que genera este programa y el máximo volumen permitido por las normativas urbanísticas, son los condicionantes principales de partida. Por otro lado, la orientación y la profundidad de la parcela, entre medianeras, dificulta el buen soleamiento de esta planta baja habitada. A partir de estas limitaciones se propone una sección transversal que permita la entrada de luz y una fachada, construida en seco, que, atendiendo a consideraciones urbanas, de escala, y de privacidad, también colabore en este soleamiento de las principales estancias de la casa. Del mismo modo sucederá con las ventilaciones cruzadas. El cuerpo superior, de crujía muy estrecha, se acomoda junto a la medianera más alta, abriéndose a una terraza-patio que se vincula al jardín mediante una rampa. Esta rampa también hará la función de moderar la medianera opuesta, cuyos lienzos antiguos en buen estado quedaran vistos de fondo. La terraza alcanza el plano de fachada en un punto, a modo de balcón, para poder asomarse y relacionarse con la calle de manera tradicional. La propuesta introduce la vegetación, tanto en el pequeño jardín frontal, como en el jardín inclinado posterior, como mecanismo termorregulador, y como paisaje. Una idea sobre el habitar en estrecha complicidad con los usuarios.
