What is the Limit of an Infrastructure? Collective Isolation. Firminy
The project sets its goal in the definition of an infrastructure, imagined as the only possible solution to the open architecture quest. The necessary premise lays ground on the ongoing research of how architecture will react to the changes in social habits developed after the global pandemic of 2020. The approach is a spatial exploration, where the infrastructure is reduced to only a circle defining a void. In the rural settings of the North-west of Firminy, the circle becomes at the same time a threshold, an infrastructure, and liveable space. From isolation spaces to working environments, from exhibition spaces to public facilities, the question raised is what the minimum limit of an infrastructure is.
