The Chelas Valley has an important role in the city of Lisbon, both social and ecological. The proposal promotes a strong community experience through the dematerialisation of the ground floor punctuated with common use equipments. It tries not to close in itself and to establish a permeable relationship with the surrounding context, promoting the contamination of urban living.
The buildings are located on the street Ferreira de Castro / Rua Pedro Cruz, the locations are the finishing of a system of buildings already constructed. This limit design consists of using a language that commits to the existing without breaking the continuity. In the implantation plan you can see the scale of the buildings proposed with the existing housing blocks in the surroundings. In the absence of an urban aggregating strategy, and as a way of combating isolation from the city’s mesh, these “island-buildings” become “city-buildings”, seeking through the shape and the use of a “mega-structure” model to establish urban spacial relationships, designing paths, streets and squares.
