This project is located in the Byron Bay Hinterland, on the far north coast of NSW
The site is a large plateau overlooking a valley toward the distant mountains beyond. The preliminary design sites the dwelling along the edge of the plateau, following the contour line.
Upon approach, the building presents as a simple pitched roof shed, a common form found in many agricultural buildings in the area.
The building soon unfolds, presenting a long low wall, clad in black metal, preventing views of what’s beyond.
Openings in this wall signify entry into the dwelling whilst framing views of the valley and mountains beyond.
