We live in a global world where, due to hyper connectivity, information is stored without any filter in the global network. But, is there any possibility of going beyond the concept of image as simple visual information? What is the difference between an image, a memory and a postcard? What can we represent through a graphic document? MOMENTUM arises as a response to a certain environment, where images potential is reduced to a quick and ethereal use that represents basic information. Conceived as a reaction to the insane amount of inputs and images to which we are exposed on the Internet, it proposes to open a new conversation and to go back to carefully selected personal references that will allow to represent a point of view on a certain topic, finding out new ways of thinking.

The first issue, The Ambition of Scale, is the beginning of the search for a connection between the mind and the activities of a person. If societies are represented by their actions and our actions are extensions of our mind, is the architects’ mind present in their architecture? Which are their ambitions? Can we find psychology in the form?. The scale is something else than an arithmetical operation, it is a relation and a proportion between elements that tends to become harmonic. But it is will, and strength as well. When we talk about the scale of architecture we are referring to the ambition of an architect. What should architects aspire towards in their craft? What should their scale of ambition be?

Vivimos en un mundo globalizado donde, debido a la hiperconectividad, la información se almacena y acumula sin filtro en la red. Pero, ¿puede haber algo más detrás de una imagen que mera información visual?. ¿Qué diferencia una imagen de un recuerdo o de una postal?. ¿Qué podemos transmitir a través de un documento gráfico?. MOMENTUM surge como respuesta a una atmósfera en la cual la imagen queda reducida a una herramienta veloz y etérea que transmite información superficial. Ideada como una reacción frente a la increíble cantidad de inputs e imágenes sin filtro previo a las que tenemos acceso en Internet con tan solo un click, propone abrir un nuevo diálogo y volver por un momento a las referencias personales cuidadosamente escogidas que permitan ilustrar una opinión sobre un determinado tema, descubriendo nuevas conversaciones, puntos de vista o maneras de pensar.

El primer número, La Ambición de la Escala, constituye el comienzo de la búsqueda de una conexión entre la mente y la acción de la persona. Si las sociedades se plasman en sus actos y nuestras acciones son extensiones de nuestra mente, ¿está presente la mente del arquitecto en la arquitectura?. ¿Cuáles son sus ambiciones?. ¿Podemos leer la psicología en la forma?. La escala es más que un cociente, es una relación y una proporción que tiende a la armonía entre las piezas. Pero también es voluntad, es fuerza. Cuando hablamos de la escala de la arquitectura también hablamos de la ambición de un arquitecto. ¿A qué debe aspirar la arquitectura? ¿Cuál debe ser la ambición de su escala?.
