Plans to regenerate the world famous former BBC Television Centre in White City preserving the Grade II listed central ring, the famous Studio 1 and other historic features at their heart .
The project for Stanhope, which was masterplanned by AHMM, with supporting roles by Macreanor Lavington and Duggan Morris Architects, seeks to create around 2,745 jobs which will enable the centre to remain at the heart of the community where it has stood for the past 53 years. The scheme involves replacing four television studios, the restaurant block (by Duggan Morris Architects), the drama block, the east tower and connected buildings with up to 1,025 homes, a hotel, cinema, health and leisure club,restaurants, cafes and offices. The Loom (formerly New Loom House) is a multi–let, listed Victorian ‘warehouse’ style office building that provides 112,000 sq ft of office and storage space over five floors. There are 67 lettable units providing between 1,000 sq ft and 5,500 sq ft of space each. Acquired in July 2013, Helical commenced in January 2015 a comprehensive refurbishment of the common parts, including a new café and restaurant, which will greatly improve and reposition the building.
